  • i love love love mary mccormack. and i especially love her in in plain sight, which is on hiatus until next summer (boo!). she was great in murder one, er, and the west wing, always portraying an air of intelligence. and this role continues that -- and how glorious that someone who isn't a size 2 can be smart and funny and beautiful and wear jeans? she's my hero.

  • nathan fillion's new pilot castle got picked up! YAY!

  • i was behind a car at a light today which had a license plate holder that said "former student -- texas a&m." it took me a second to realise -- shouldn't it say "alumni"??? oh wait -- maybe the driver never graduated. so i sat there feeling smug. university graduate, that's me. until i realised he was driving a lexus. as i sat there in my 10 year old jeep. doh!

  • darling luke russert is doing commentary on msnbc's convention coverage.

  • i am so happy for olympic gymnast shawn johnson. she's adorable and talented and humble, and totally got screwed in the first few rounds -- but finally got the gold on beam. and competing against the rule-breaking 12 year old chinese gymnasts, too!

  • speaking of the olympics, my opinion hasn't changed on beach volleyball. not only is it now a "sport" while baseball and softball are gone, but the women dress like they're one step away from a pole dance. until the men show up in banana hammocks, i say, no volleyball.

  • i like rachel maddow. we share the same birthday. but giving her my darling dan abrams' tv slot? booooooo.

  • when a 9 year old boy is cast out of his little league-type baseball league because he's "too good," it's past time to reconsider the direction this country has taken. "but he leaves the other boys discouraged because he's so good." well, give them all trophies and leave no fing child behind. god forbid anyone excel at anything in this world. certainly your loser pussy's feelings are more important than anything. hey cheerleaders -- practice spelling out BE MEDIOCRE! for your next game. here's a novel idea: it's a GAME. games have winners and losers. if you can't stomach someone being better, maybe your talentless sucky loser child should take up basket weaving.
  • if i hear another pundit mention that the presidential candidates must be ready "on day one," i will scream. our current president couldn't manage to pee standing up on day one. being able to speak english and walk upright without drooling is a giant leap for mankind.
