i've been mulling over a blog about how important msnbc is to me for a few weeks now. as i watch msnbc for hours on end, i'm always informed and entertained. my love for dan abrams and keith olbermann is well established. but third on the list is reporter david shuster.
SHUSTER: Doesn‘t it seem like Chelsea is being pimped out in some weird sort of way?
i find it preposterous that david shuster, sitting in for tucker carlson, was suspended from msnbc for his question about whether the clintons were "pimping out" chelsea by having her make calls to the superdelegates. (please note: i was watching that episode of tucker only because david was hosting. i don't much care for tucker.) so david put aside his usual reporters cap and donned his host cap, and he asked his guest a provacative question using a phrase commonly found in pop culture. his question was valid, it was funny, and i don't believe for a minute that david was making a perjorative statement about the clinton's parenting skills or chelsea's character. when the clinton's put chelsea out there, she becomes fair game.
besides, its not like tucker, chris matthews or joe scarborough don't use similiar phrases or make offensive statements on a regular basis. in fact, wasn't chris matthews recently chastised by some league of women in media group for repeatedly making gender related statements about hillary? i don't remember when he served his suspension for that....oh wait, an apology was enough for chris but not for david?
and if msnbc was just pandering to the clintons to keep them happy for some future debate? shame on them. when they use chelsea on the front line in their campaign, it's ok to question their methods and strategy.
i love msnbc. my tv can usually be found tuned to it. but i am so incredibly disappointed in the decision to suspend david shuster. so i'm suspending channel 356 from my tv until he returns.

I don't watch regularly, but I boycott on your behalf! Does that go for their website too? Because I totally do the jigsaw puzzle every day. Because I'm a geek.
